BCCI to get new President on September 28

Elections for the position of President to be held during September

The BCCI will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28. It will be during this highly important meeting that the next President of the Indian cricket board will be elected. The meeting is set to take place in BCCI headquarters located in Mumbai at 11:30 am.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia recently confirmed that polls will be conducted for positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer. The elections will be held during the AGM itself and the people who will take up these posts will also get decided in the same meeting.

Meanwhile, the candidates for the posts of President and Vice-President will be decided in a meeting that will take place before the AGM. This meeting will be conducted among the top brass of the BCCI and will also quite important. The Indian cricket board is yet to take a decision when it comes to the post of President and it is currently open for any former player or cricket administrator.

Notably, a big call can also be taken on Rajeev Shukla's future with the BCCI. He was expected to replace Binny and become the next President, however according to sources, there is only a slim chance of that happening and it is likely that Shukla will continue as the Vice-President.

On the other hand, there is also a possibility that Shukla will replace Arun Dhumal as the next IPL Chairman. If this does end up happening, then the former will have to leave the post of BCCI's Vice-President and will have to shift his focus to IPL. Other candidates for the post include former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Choudhury and Avishek Dalmiya, who is currently a member of the IPL Governing Council. The final decision now rests in the hands of the BCCI.
