Out-of-favour batter Karun Nair got a big chance to make his way back into the Indian team after he got selected for the India A team that is set to tour England. The squad for the series was announced on Friday and Nair's name got included following some stellar batting performances in domestic cricket which caught the eye of many.

Nair made his debut for India in Tests back in 2016 and despite a record-breaking triple century against England, wasn't able to cement his place in the playing XI and soon fell down the pecking order. After getting dropped, Nair was not able to return to the side.

Karun Nair had shared an emotional post in 2022

After getting dropped from Karnataka's state team in 2022, Nair shared an emotional post on social media, stating, "Dear cricket, give me one more chance."

Nair got back into the spotlight following the 2024/25 Vijay Hazare Trophy where he represented Vidarbha and had nothing short of an incredible campaign with the bat. In eight innings, Nair scored a total of 779 runs which included five centuries, four of which came back-to-back.

However, Nair wasn't finished yet as he had a stunning Ranji Trophy campaign as well, scoring 863 runs in just nine matches which included a highly important ton against Kerala in the final to guide Vidarbha to the title. Following these magnificent performances, Nair was rightly given his reward and was named in the India A squad.

Good batting performances against the England Lions can very well see the 33-year-old make his way back into the Indian Test team and it will be nothing less than what he deserves.

The India A side is set to lock horns against the England Lions for two Test matches ahead of the five-match series between England and India which will kick-off the new World Test Championship cycle.
