Cricketing fraternity including current and ex-Pakistani players pay tributes to late Lata Mangeshkar

It was a day of tributes on Sunday (February 6) as the world said goodbye to the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. The cricketing world wasn't sitting back in paying their homage to the 92-year-old, as she passed away in the morning in Mumbai. While Team India was seen wearing black armbands in their ODI against West Indies, Pakistan cricketing fraternity also paid tributes to Lata didi.

 

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar was seen paying his homage while he attended the funeral at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. His partner in playing days and fellow cricketer Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to give his condolences to the Bharat Ratna Lata didi.

 

“I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of Lata Didi’s life. She always showered me with her love and blessings. With her passing away, a part of me feels lost too. She’ll always continue to live in our hearts through her music,” Tendulkar posted.

 

“The Nightingale of India, a voice which has resonated with, brought joy and happiness to millions around the world leaves. Heartfelt Condolences to her family and fans. Om Shanti,” 2011 World Cup winner Sehwag posted.

 

Virat Kohli, former India captain also showed his sadness while he represented India against the West Indies, “Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Lata ji. Her melodious songs touched millions of people around the world. Thank you for all the music and the memories. My deepest condolences to the family & the loved ones.”

 

Tributes from Pakistan

Current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja took to his Twitter handle where he posted an emotional text after the demise, “Lata Mangeshkar was the epitome of grace, humility and simplicity and therefore greatness.. a lesson for all. Kishore Kumar and now her death has left me music broken!”

 

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, currently playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) also showed his gratitude by taking to social media, “End of a golden era. Her magical voice and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions worldwide. An unparalleled icon! RIP Smt. Lata Mangeshkar Ji."
