Ishan Kishan called the umpire 'stupid' for changing the ball.

Kishan was let off the hook by Cricket Australia.

Former Australian opener David Warner is not pleased with Cricket Australia's (CA) explanation on the incident involving Ishan Kishan and umpire Shawn Craig during encounter between India 'A' and Australia 'A'. Kishan called the umpire's decision to change the ball "stupid". But no action against Kishan was taken for showing dissent over umpire's decision.

Warner feels that the issue has been "squashed" ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. While he said that CA will have the final say, the new Sydney Thunder captain wants the match referee to address what transpired in the middle.

"The ultimate decision is with CA isn't it?," Warner said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo. "I think they have obviously squashed it as fast as they could, given that India is coming out here this summer. But if the umpires deemed something happened, I am sure there will be a follow up. I think the umpires or the match referee should be standing here answering questions."

"I think the match referee should be coming out and addressing his own staff which are the umpires. And if they're sticking by the umpire's decisions, you have to stand up for that. That's obviously a statement CA have to release. I have not seen anything."

The umpires had changed the ball before play. When the Indian players objected to it, umpire Craig was heard saying that there were scratches on the ball which led to a change.

"You scratch it, we change the ball," Craig said. "There will be no more discussion, let's play."

When Kishan called his decision "stupid", the umpire told him that he will reported for showing dissent.

No action from CA

After Nathan McSweeney-led Australia A won the game by seven wickets, CA released a statement on the issue and said that no action will be taken against the Indian wicketkeeper.

"Both teams' captain and manager were informed of the decision prior to the start of play," the statement said.

Kishan will be seen in action in the second game starting on November 7 in Melbourne.
