Australia opener David Warner scripted history at The Old Trafford, Manchester, as he took the fifth spot on list of highest T20 run-scorers of all time. In the ongoing The Hundred 2025 (included in T20s data), the London Spirit opener scored 71 runs from 51 balls in the unsuccessful run chase against Manchester Originals to leave Virat Kohli behind on the list.
Warner is just two runs ahead of Kohli on the list. From 419 games, the southpaw has 13,545 runs at an average of 36.80, including eight centuries and 113 fifties. He holds the record for most half-centuries in the T20 format.
Can Buttler surpass Kohli as well?
Kohli has played 414 games and scored 13,543 runs at an average of 41.92, including nine centuries and 105 fifties. Since Kohli has retired from T20Is and only plays the format in the Indian Premier League (IPL), another batter who can surpass him is England's Jos Buttler. The Manchester Originals batter has 13,123 runs from 461 games at an average of 35.56, including eight centuries and 93 fifties.
Top run-scorers in T20 cricket, Malik next target for Warner?
The top spot belongs to West Indies' Chris Gayle (14,562 runs), followed by Kieron Pollard (13,854 runs), England's Alex Hales (13,814 runs) and Pakistan's Shoaib Malik (13,571 runs). Warner may overtake Malik as well when London Spirit play at home on August 14 against Trent Rockets.
Warner’s anchor knock not enough to lift London Spirit
On August 11, Phil Salt-led Manchester Originals posted 163/6 on the board. Buttler top-scored with 46 runs from 37 balls, featuring three fours and a couple of sixes.
In the run chase, London Spirit skipper Kane Williamson struggled to score quickly. He scored 19 runs from 20 balls. Jamie Smith could not do much damage and departed for a nine-ball 13. Warner continued to anchor the run chase but the required run rate was slipping out of the grasp. On the 86th ball of the innings, Warner was dismissed by Josh Tongue. His 51-ball 71 featured 12 fours and a six. Jamie Overton's seven-ball 19 cameo wasn't enough as London Spirit managed to post 153/6 and lost by 10 runs. This was London Spirit's second loss from three games.
