India's legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh lavished praise on former CSK skipper MS Dhoni ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction which is scheduled to take place later this year.
Harbhajan opens up on much talked about the uncapped player rule where any Indian player who has not featured in an international match for five years can be treated as an uncapped player.
Harbhajan said that this new uncapped player rule doesn’t apply only to Dhoni.
“Dhoni is immortal. He will play as long as he can. Now, he’s an uncapped player under the new rule - a two-time World Cup winner but he’s now uncapped.. Anything I say about it will be controversial. Anyway, I think this rule doesn’t apply only to Dhoni. There are plenty of players, some who even retired can come back. They can register again and I am one of the probables to register (laughs),” Harbhajan said exclusively to CricTracker.
MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of the IPL. CSK won the five IPL titles under his captaincy. However, he steps down from captaincy ahead of the last season of the tournament. CSK appointed Ruturaj Gaikwad as his successor for the last edition of the tournament. IPL 2023 champions failed to perform under Gaikwad's captaincy as they were unable to qualify for the semifinal of the marquee event.
MS Dhoni's IPL career
MS Dhoni has been featured in IPL since 2008, the former CSK skipper played 264 matches in the cash-rich league where he scored 5243 runs with a highest score of 94 not out.
