Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali who was not picked in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad has bagged eight wickets from three games for Birmingham Bears in the ongoing T20 Blast. However, when Birmingham Bears took on Lancashire, he was taken to the cleaners by Luke Wells as he conceded 27 runs in just over.
In the fourth over, Alex Davies was introduced into the attack. First ball, he bowled a no ball and was hit for a maximum by Luke Wells. On the next two deliveries, he was hit for two more sixes. Ali bowled a wide after three consecutive sixes. Wells continued to attack and hit a four on the next ball. On the last three deliveries, he conceded just three runs.
He was brought back into the attack after powerplay overs. He was hit for a four each by Keaton Jennings and Wells. He conceded 12 runs from the over. The captain gave him the responsibility to bowl the last over.
He started with the wicket of Steven Croft. Luke Wood on the first ball hit him for a maximum. He took a single next ball. On the last three balls, Chris Green and Wood were dismissed. The 29-year-old conceded 47 runs from three overs and bagged three wickets.
Hasan’s cameo
In the run chase, he came in to bat in the penultimate over. Birmingham Bears needed 30 runs from 11 balls. As Wood bowled a brilliant penultimate over, Bears needed 24 runs to win. After just two runs from first three overs, Saqib Mahmood was hit for two sixes. On the last ball, one run was scored as Bears posted 168/6. Hasan remained unbeaten for 17 runs from eight balls. Lancashire won the match by eight runs.
Hasan’s last T20I appearance
Hasan was dropped from the T20I squad against England. In his last T20I appearance, he conceded 42 runs from three overs.
