Barbados Royals on September 17 won their third consecutive Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2025 title with a three-wicket win over Guyana Amazon Warriors. It was thrilling run chase at Providence Stadium, Guyana. In a thrilling run chase, Aaliyah Alleyne and Shreyanka Patil turned out to be the saviours for Royals in the slog overs with their unbeaten cameos.
Sri Lankan captain starts well in run chase
Chasing 137, an in-form Chamari Athapaththu got Royals off to a good start in the powerplay overs. Qiana Joseph could not make an impact and departed in the third over. Athapaththu contributed with a 20-ball 25, featuring five boundaries before losing her wicket to Karishma Ramharack. Royals were 42/2 after powerplay overs.
Royals lose too many wickets
Lycia Knight and Courtney Webb shared a 39-run partnership. Ashmini Munisar dismissed both of them for 31. Skipper Chinelle Henry could not bat long and fell for a single-digit score to Nyia Latchman. With Djenaba Joseph and Afy Fletcher falling on first two balls of the 17th over, Shreyanka arrived at the crease. Royals needed 27 runs from 16 remaining deliveries.

She adopted the unorthodox style against Ashmini and hit two consecutive fours. She reverse scooped and reverse swept as Royals stayed alive in the run chase. In the penultimate over, Alleyne hit Molly Penflod for a six and a four. In the final over, four runs were needed. On the fourth ball bowled by Laura Harris, Alleyne finished the run chase. Shreyanka scored 10 runs from six balls whereas Alleyne scored 17 off nine deliveries.
Openers struggle to get going, skipper finishes well
Earlier, Royals skipper Henry won the toss and opted to bowl first. Warriors were 34/1 after six overs. Realeanna Grimmond was the first to fall for an 18-ball 17. Stafanie Taylor got out retired hurt for a 12-ball 15. Laura Harris pushed the scoring rate with an eight-ball 18 before getting bowled by Alleyne. Hunter's knock came to an end in the 13th over. She scored just 29 runs from 36 balls. In the slog overs, skipper Shemaine Campbelle's 20-ball 28 and Dan van Niekerk's 26-ball 27 helped Warriors post a total of 136/3 on the board.
