A stellar performance from Manav Suthar with the ball and aggressive batting from Ruturaj Gaikwad, Aryan Juyal, and Rajat Patidar propelled India C to a four-wicket win over India D in the first round of the Duleep Trophy. Resuming from their overnight score of 206/8, India D could only manage to add 30 runs before being all out. Suthar, the standout performer, claimed both of the remaining wickets, clocking the impressive bowling figures of 7/49 which featured seven maidens.
India C overhaul India D's target to clinch the issue
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan provided India C with a strong start in their chase of 233 runs, adding 64 runs in 11.1 overs. Sudharsan was eventually dismissed by Saransh Jain, but India C continued to press forward. Saransh Jain picked up three more wickets, and Arshdeep Singh dismissed Aryan Juyal, briefly giving India D a chance to fight back. However, Abhishek Porel's unbeaten 35 helped India C secure the victory. India C achieved the target in 61 overs, winning the match on the third day. This victory earned the Gaikwad-led side 6 points.
Manav Suthar runs riot with sensational seven-fer
India C's victory in the Duleep Trophy match against India D was a thrilling affair. After being dismissed for 164 in the first innings, the target of 233 seemed daunting. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan provided a flying start, establishing a 50-run partnership in just eight overs. Manav Suthar, who had already claimed a five-wicket haul in the first innings, continued his impressive performance, taking two more wickets to dismiss India D. Despite a brief resurgence from Axar Patel and Harshit Rana, India D could only add 30 runs in the first session. The wickets of Gaikwad and Sudharsan gave India D a glimmer of hope. However, Rajat Patidar and Aryan Juyal formed a crucial partnership, adding 88 runs. Patidar's dismissal brought a setback, but Juyal and Abhishek Porel continued to fight back. A series of wickets brought India C to a precarious position, but Suthar and Porel formed a valuable partnership, contributing 41 runs. Suthar's aggressive batting in the final over sealed the victory for India C, as they chased down the target with just one wicket remaining.
