The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is looking to crack the whip on England players after their 4-1 defeat to Australia. There were reports that the team was involved in binge-drinking sessions during the Ashes series and it ended up reflecting in their performance Down Under.
According to a report by The Times, ECB is considering to impose a curfew on England players for their upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka and the 2026 T20 World Cup that will commence from February 7. The cricket board has also launched a throrough review of the Three Lions' disappointing defeat in the Ashes.

“According to a source, changes are already being put in place in relation to the team 'culture' for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka and the T20 World Cup that follows in Sri Lanka and India,” the UK Times reported.
During their tour of Australia, several reports had stated that the England players had spent as many as six days drinking in between the second and third Test. Their performances only deteriorated even further during this time as they ended up losing the first three Tests within just 11 days of play.
Brook's nightclub incident
The drama didn't end even after the Ashes came to an end as following England's defeat in Sydney, The Telegraph reported that Harry Brook had been involved in an altercation with a bouncer at a nighclub in New Zealand after being refused to enter. This incident took place during the side's tour of New Zealand that took place in October, 2025.
England's upcoming assignments
Meanwhile, England will be facing Sri Lanka next in what will be a three-match ODI and T20I series each, starting from January 22. They will then be participating in the T20 World Cup where they have been grouped alongside the likes of Bangladesh, Nepal, Italy and West Indies. Their first fixture of the tournament will be against Nepal on February 8.
