England's pace-bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI and the T20I series against West Indies at home. Overton suffered a broken right little finger. He sustained the injury during the series opener at Edgbaston, Birmingham earlier this week.
"He will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the England medical team," England Cricket Board (ECB) in a media release on May 30.
England will not name Overton's replacement for the ODI series. His replacement for the T20I series is expected to be announced. The T20I series will begin on June 6 at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street.
In the first ODI, Overton was handy with the ball. He got the wickets of Roston Chase, Matthew Forde and Gudakesh Motie. From 5.2 overs, he conceded 22 runs. England won the match by 238 runs on Harry Brook's ODI captaincy debut. They ended their seven-ODI losing streak.
The second ODI will be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on June 1. England may replace him with Matthew Potts for the second ODI.

Overton's debut IPL season
Overton was part of Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) squad. He did not return when the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumed after a one-week suspension. Along with Overton, all-rounder Sam Curran did not return either.
Overton was roped in for his base price of Rs 1.5 crore. He did not get many opportunities. He played three games and scored 15 runs from two innings. He could not take a single wicket in his debut IPL season. It will be interesting to see whether CSK retain him for the next season.
