The schedule for India's upcoming 2025-2026 domestic cricket season has been revealed amidst the BCCI's 28th Apex Council meeting. The action-packed India's domestic season 2025-2026 will kick off with the prestigious Duleep Trophy, followed by the Irani Cup. Ranji Trophy will then kick off with all pomp and show, with the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy being played in between.
The prestigious Ranji Trophy will continue to be structured in two distinct phases. The first phase of the tournament is scheduled to get underway on October 15 and will run until November 19. Following a break, the second phase of the Ranji Trophy will resume on January 22.
This decision to conduct the tournament in two stages was made by the BCCI apex council during their meeting on Saturday, June 14. The primary rationale behind this phase-wise approach is to facilitate better workload management for the players, ensuring sufficient rest and recovery periods between the intense phases of the competition.
In women's domestic cricket, the players will first participate in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy in October. This will be followed by the One Day Trophy and then the Inter-Zonal One Day Trophy. Thus, the upcoming domestic cricket season in India, starting in October 2025, will conclude in the middle weeks of March next year. All tournaments will be held within this window, as the IPL 2026 season is likely to begin towards the end of March.
