Former South Africa speedster Dale Steyn opened up on T20 World Cup 2024 final he recalled Jasprit Bumrah's last overs in which helped India to get back in the game. The 41-year-old also lavished praise on South Africa side for qualifying in the final for the first time in the history of World Cup.
Dale reckoned that it was a nail-biting final because the game was in good flow. He stated that at one point of time, team India were leading by picking two wickets in the powerplay but South Africa made a comeback with a run-scoring partnership and then Jasprit Bumrah's overs along with Suryakumar Yadav's catch changed the whole game.

“The first South African team to always pushed and been really good at World Cups. So for this team to go all the way and make a final, that was fantastic. They can only be one winner. So unfortunately, it wasn't them. It was a wonderful final. It was a game that Ebbden turned and good flow in it. At one stage, you thought it was all India. And South Africa fought back. And then you thought it was all South Africa. And then Jasprit Bumrah came on and bowled. Fantastic two overs and and then there was a catch And yeah the game the game went all the way down to the wire Which is what you want when you when you buying tickets to go and watch players play a World Cup final was a wonderful final” Dale Steyn told Sports Tak.

Bumrah was in lethal form throughout the tournament, the legendary pacer was the first Indian bowler to be the Player of the Tournament in the history of T20 World Cups. He finished the tournament as the second-highest wicket-taker with 15 scalps in eight outings at an average of 8.46 and an economy of 4.17. He started the tournament with a Player of the Match performance against Ireland as he picked 2/6 in 3 overs.
