It is an arduous task to keep Pakistan cricket away from unnecessary controversies. No matter how well they perform on the field but controversies invariably seem to be chasing the Pakistan cricket circuit.
In a fresh development, Pakistan wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed triggered a new debate after the former Pakistan skipper commented on the Fawad Alam’s selection dispute that had taken place three years ago, back in 2018 when the national team had gone for the England tour.
When it all started
It all started when former Pakistan bowler Tauseef Ahmed decided to bring back the old topic and take a dig at Sarfaraz. The 63-year-old former spin bowler alleged that Sarfaraz and then Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur were the two main people in keeping Fawad out of the squad that toured England in 2018.
However, Tauseef previously had made the allegations that Sarfaraz was indecisive. The former spinner who had played 34 Tests and 70 ODIs for his country Pakistan, earlier criticized Sarfaraz for not being active enough.
Sarfaraz's claim
And while, responding to this allegation, Sarafaraz was found to be making a surprising appeal. The 34-year-old keeper said that there some things which should not be brought out of the dressing room.
The Karachi-born although did not stop there. He went on to say that if words from dressing start to come out in public domain then many people would start feeling bad.
“Some things shouldn’t come out of the dressing room. If they start coming out, and if I say something, then a lot of people will feel bad,” Sarfaraz was quoted while talking to one online media channel.
Fawad, the left-handed Pakistani batter had made his Test debut back in 2009 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. But after that he had a gap of more than 10 years and came back to the Test squad in 2020 when Pakistan team had toured England. Fawad in that Test match though, did not do pretty good enough.
But the year 2021 has been a terrific one for him. The 36-year-old notched three centuries and two half-centuries. He moreover, went on to become the second-highest run-scorer for Pakista in Test cricket, in 2021.
