India's former Under-19 World Cup 2022-winning member, left-arm spinner Vicky Ostwal scripted history at Deccan Gymkhana Cricket Ground. The left-arm spinner claimed nine wickets to bowl out Chandigarh for 223 in the CK Nayudu Trophy Under-23 tournament. Apart from opener Devang Kaushik, Ostwal got all other wickets in Chandigarh's first innings.

Chandigarh batted first and did not wickets in cluster against the new ball. The first wicket fell in the 11th over. Ostwal got his first wicket of the innings in the 20th over. Arnav Bansal departed after scoring 40 runs from 50 balls. A few overs later he dismissed Ehit Salaria for a two-ball duck. Dipender Kush could not convert a start into big score. He fell after scoring 18 runs from 49 balls. Nikhil could not do much either and fell for a single-digit score. In the same over, Abhishek Singh was dismissed for a three-ball duck as Ostawal competed his fifer.

Solid partnership, captain leads from front

Captain Akshit Rana and Ivraj Ranauta tried to stablised the innings. They shared a 126-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Ranauta lost his wicket just before the new ball was due. He missed his half-century and departed after scoring 45 runs from 146 balls including five fours. 

Ostwal mops up tail 

After Ranauta's dismissal, Ostwal made short work of the tail as the Chandigarh captain remained stranded on the other end. He remained unbeaten for 87 runs from 174 deliveries including 12 fours and a six. Ostwal bowled a total of 24 overs including seven maidens, conceded 59 runs and bagged nine wickets.

Maharashtra put up mammoth total, Ostwal scores fifty

Maharashtra put up a big score on the board. Captain AS Nalavade and Sachin Dhas centuries helped Mahrashtra post 513/9 before declaring. Ostwal was impressive with the bat as well. Coming to bat at no.8, he remained unbeaten for 63 off 125 balls. Kshitij Patil scored a fifty as well and shared a 113-run partnership for eighth wicket with Ostwal.

Unsold in mega auction

The Pune-born bowler was picked by Delhi Capitals but did not get to play a single game. He was released ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction and did not find any takers. 

Ostwal's domestic cricket numbers

Ostwal who was part of Yash Dhull-led Under-19 World Cup 2022-winning team has played a handful of matches in domestic cricket. He has nine wickets each in as many first-class and List A games. In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he took seven wickets from eight games.
