Former Karnataka batter with 7,650 runs named head coach of Ayush Mhatre-led India Under-19 for Australia tour

Former Railways and Karnataka batter Yere Goud has been appointed as head coach of India Under-19 team for the tour of Australia starting September 21. 

As per a report by TOI, Goud's coaching staff will include Debashish Mohanty as fast-bowling coach. Rajib Datta will serve as bowling coach whereas Subhadeep Bhattacharya will be fielding coach.

Yere Goud as coach and domestic record -

Goud was Karnataka's head coach for the previous domestic season. He had coached Karnataka's Under-23 team in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy 2023-24 season as well.

Goud has played as many as 134 first-class games. He has scored 7,650 runs from 121 innings at an average of 45.53, including 16 centuries and 39 fifties.

India Under-19 team’s schedule for Australia tour.

India’s Under-19 One-Day series will begin on September 21. The three-Youth ODI series will take place at Ian Healy Oval, Brisbane. The second and third Youth ODIs will be played on September 24 and 26 respectively. 

The limited-overs series will be followed by a two-Youth Test series. The first game will commence on September 30. For the second multi-day game, they will move to Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay. The final game of the tour will begin on October 7.

Ayush Mhatre (c), Vihaan Malhotra (vc), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Vedant Trivedi, Rahul Kumar, Abhigyan Kundu (wk), Harvansh Singh (wk), R S Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Naman Pushpak, Henil Patel, D Deepesh, Kishan Kumar, Anmoljeet Singh, Khilan Patel, Udhav Mohan, Aman Chauhan. 

Standby players: Yudhajit Guha, Laxman, B.K. Kishore, Alankrith Rapole, and Arnav Bugga.

Australia Under-19 squad for India series -

Simon Budge, Alex Turner, Steve Hogan, Will Malajczuk, Yash Deshmukh, Tom Hogan, Aryan Sharma, John James, Hayden Schiller, Charles Lachmund, Ben Gordon, Will Byrom, Kasey Barton, Alex Lee Young, and Jayden Draper.
