Jasprit Bumrah has made history by becoming the first Indian fast bowler to claim the top spot in the ICC's Test bowlers' rankings on February 7. Bumrah's exceptional bowling performance in the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam earned him this prestigious accolade.

Tests

 

Bishan Bedi

The late great Bishan Singh Bedi was the first Indian bowler to reach the top spot in the ICC rankings for Test bowlers. Bedi participated in 67 Test matches for the Indian team, claiming 266 wickets. During the 1970s, Bedi was India's leading wicket-taker. He represented the Indian team at the international level for 12 years. He passed away in October 2023 after battling a prolonged illness.

 

Ravichandran Ashwin

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin first claimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Test bowlers' rankings in 2016. His second stint as the No. 1 ranked Test bowler occurred during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2023. The off-spinner currently holds the third position in the ICC bowling rankings.


Ravindra Jadeja

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja became the third bowler from India to reach the top spot in the ICC Test bowlers' rankings in March 2017. Ravindra Jadeja is presently ranked eighth in the ICC bowling rankings.

 

Jasprit Bumrah

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah recently became the latest Indian bowler to claim the top spot in the ICC Test bowlers' rankings. Additionally, he is the first bowler ever to hold the No. 1 spot in ICC rankings across all three formats of the game at least once in his career.

 

ODI

 

Maninder Singh

Maninder Singh made history by becoming the first Indian bowler to reach the prestigious No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI bowling rankings in 1987.

 

Kapil Dev

The legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev achieved a milestone by securing the top spot in the ICC ODI bowling rankings in 1988.

 

Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble bamboozled batters globally as he notched the No. 1 spot in the ODI bowling rankings in 1996.

 

Ravindra Jadeja

The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a lasting impression when he reached the summit of the ICC ODI bowlers' rankings in 2013. Jadeja ranks as the seventh in the list of the hightest ODI wicket-takers for India, having claimed 220 wickets.

 

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah attained the No. 1 spot in the ODI bowling rankings twice, first in 2018 and then in 2022, before being sidelined due to injury.

 

Mohammed Siraj

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj held the top spot in the ICC ODI bowling rankings in 2023. At present, he holds the fourth position in ODI cricket.

 

T20I

 

Jasprit Bumrah

In the T20 format, he attained the top rank in late 2017, but he is currently ranked 100th in the rankings.

 

Ravi Bishnoi

In December 2023, Ravi Bishnoi held the top rank in the T20I bowling rankings. Currently, he occupies the 6th position in the bowling rankings for the shortest format of the game.
