Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir played a crucial role in the country's two World Cup triumphs in the 21st century. Gambhir's represented India in international cricket for 16 years. The left-handed opening batter had his fair share of ups and downs as a cricketer but his undeterred resilience and hunger for success elevated him to a colossal figure in Indian cricket, especially during the late 2000s and the early part of the next decade.
Talking about Gambhir's numbers, the southpaw represented India in 242 matches in international cricket and scored over 10,000 runs with the help of 20 centuries and 63 half-centuries.
In Test cricket, Gambhir scored 4,154 runs in 58 matches with the help of nine centuries and 22 fifties at an average of 41.95. In ODI cricket, the left-handed batter amassed 5,238 runs in 147 matches at an average of 39.68 and a strike rate of 85.25. Gambhir registered 11 centuries and 34 fifties in 50-over international cricket. In T20Is, Gambhir scored, 932 runs in 37 matches at a strike rate of 119.02.
After achieving monumental success inside the boundary cushions, Gambhir decided to give back to society with his humanitarian work. Since retirement from professional cricket, Gambhir has been actively involved in the sport, either as a pundit or as a mentor. Apart from that, Gambhir has also done a tremendous amount of work in the community.

Gautam Gambhir is celebrated for his philanthropic commitment and the former Indian cricketer has significantly contributed to society through numerous charitable endeavours. He founded the Gautam Gambhir Foundation, an admirable initiative dedicated to supporting the children of India's martyred soldiers. Additionally, his foundation launched a Free Community Kitchen in Delhi called 'Ek Asha Jan Rasoi', aimed at ensuring no one goes hungry, providing meals at no cost to those in need.
Moreover, Gambhir extends his benevolence to the educational needs of children whose fathers, serving in the CRPF, were tragically martyred in Chhattisgarh in 2017. By funding their education, he not only honors the sacrifice of these soldiers but also invests in a brighter future for their children.
