Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan last played an international game in 2022.

India opener Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket two years after he last featured for India. Dhawan made his international debut in 2010 in an ODI against Australia in Visakhapatnam and his last game for India was against Bangladesh in 2022. Dhawan represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is but was out of international cricket for a couple of years due to patchy form and the emergence of younger opening talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.

He is one of the best ODI format cricketers from India. He scored 6793 runs at an average of 44.11, including 17 hundreds and 39 fifties. He averaged 40.61 for his 2315 Test runs, which featured seven centuries. Soon after Dhawan's retirement, the cricket fraternity started reacting to the cricketer's retirement. Here are the reactions.

Many congratulations Shikhar on a fantastic career. The thing I loved about Shikhar apart from the fact that he was a fabulous cricketer, was the person that he was, always amicable and looking at the positives in every situation. Wish you all the best @SDhawan25 in the journey ahead.

Saeed Anwar

A man for the big tournaments. Never got the plaudits he deserved but knowing him he didn't care who got the applause as long as team was winning. A team man through and through. Congratulations on a stellar career and all the best for your second innings @SDhawan25 🤗

Dhawan last featured in IPL 2024 where he just played five matches citing fitness issues. He played 222 IPL match in his career and scored 6769 runs including two hundreds and 51 half centuries.
