Story Highlights:

Glenn Maxwell crossed the 11,000 run-mark in PSL 2026.

Maxwell has struggled for runs in 2026.

Veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell on April 12 became the third Australian to complete 11,000 runs in T20 cricket (T20Is, domestic T20s, franchise T20 cricket). Maxwell achieve the feat in his second appearance for Marnus Labuschagne-led Hyderabad Kingsmen in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026.

Maxwell joins Warner and Finch

Maxwell achieved the feat in his 469th innings with the bat. The first Australian to achieve the feat was David Warner. The Karachi Kings captain has 14,121 runs from 436 games at an average of 36.96 and strike rate of 140.61. Warner has 10 T20 centuries and 116 fifties. The second Australian on the list if former captain Aaron Finch with 11,458 runs from 387 games at an average of 33.6 and strike rate of 138.16. Finch has eight tons and 77 fifties in the format.

Maxwell’s strike rate record

Currently, Maxwell has 11,009 runs from 505 games at an average of 27.52 and strike rate of 154.14. The power-hitter has eight tons and 58 fifties in the format. His strike rate is also the best among any batter with 10,000-plus runs. The only one who comes closest is former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard with a strike rate of 150.96.

Maxwell’s cameo

The 37-year-old arrived at the crease in the 15th over. Kingsmen needed 37 runs from 32 balls. In the 17th over, he smashed Imad Wasim for a couple of sixes. On the first ball of the penultimate over, he hit Salman Irshad for a boundary to finish the game. He remained unbeaten for a nine-ball 21.

Maxwell on ‘lean patch’

After the match, Maxwell joked about taking forever to breach the 11,000-run mark in T20s.

“Think I've probably been on 10,950-plus for the last 30 games ... it's been pretty lean,” Maxwell said.

Maxwell had departed for just two runs on his PSL debut. Earlier, he struggled for big scores in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. It was a similar story in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26, managing just 76 runs from eight innings.

Despite the lean run and Australia’s shock T20 World Cup 2026 early exit, Maxwell hasn’t retired from T20Is and wishes to continue.
