Suryavanshi to feature for India U-19 in their tour of Australia in September

Teenage India batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi has gone from strength to strength ever sinnce making his debut for the Rajasthan Royals in 2025. The 14-year-old, who was signed for a fee of INR 1.10 crore by the franchise in the mega-auction last year, made a huge impact during the season and hit a 35-ball hundred against the Gujarat Titans. The left-hand batter finished the season with 252 runs from 7 matches, striking the ball at an explosive rate of 206.55.

Suryavanshi was superb with the bat against England

Suryavanshi continued his fine form in the five-match ODI series for the India U-19 side against England and finished as the top scorer with a total of 355 runs under his name. This included a fantastic knock of 143 in the fourth ODI which helped India seal the series by winning their third match of the five-game assignment.

Seeing Suryavanshi's rapid rise as a cricketer, former India batter and six-time IPL champion Ambati Rayudu feels that the teenage sensation can soon go on to feature for the Men in Blue at the highest level. He also shared an advice for Suryavanshi and told him to focus on his game rather than giving too much attention to the outside noise.

“His bat speed is extraordinary. Jo uska whip aata hai… I hope nobody changes that. He should get better. Someone like Lara… maybe go and talk to him. He also had a similar type of bat lift. So he can learn about how to control the bat speed when you are defending and when you are playing with a soft hand. So if he learns that, then he will be an extraordinary talent," Rayudu said on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast.

“He only has to focus on one thing, and that is he should not listen to many people. Don’t listen to people; just back your talent. And for coaches also, it is important that usko jyada gyaan mat do. Leave him," he added.

The one-day series will commence from September 21 while the red-ball assignment will begin from September 30. It remains to be seen if Suryavanshi will be able to continue his stellar form on Australian pitches as well.
