Australia star speedster Mitchell Starc lavished praise on Gautam Gambhir after India's dominating with against Bangladesh. Starc was part of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 winner Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where Gambhir was the franchise's mentor.

Starc was the most expensive buy in the history of IPL, KKR brought him for whooping 24.75 crores. However, he was unable to perform as it was expected from him but Gambhir backed him throughout the season and Starc got his mojo back in the title decider where he picked up two wickets by conceding just 14 runs in his three overs.

Starc who will now most likely to feature for Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy hailed current India head coach Gambhir for his thinking towards the game.

"I mean, speaking from my experience at Kolkata, he is a fantastic thinker of the game. He's always thinking about the opponent and how to get them out as a bowling attack or how to score runs as a batting attack," Starc said on Star Sports.

"It's not just individual players it's always about the team focus and how to get on top of little things that he might see in techniques or in a field placement or anything like that. The nine weeks that I spent with him were fantastic. In a T20 setup, I know that he's got some good things," he added.

Gambhir was appointed India head coach after Rahul Dravid's tenure ended with India's T20 World Cup 2024 win at Barbados. Team India has played 11 matches including three matches T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka and two Test match series against Bangladesh followed by three T20Is where the Men in Blue registered dominating win in all the series except ODI series against the island nation.

India are currently preparing for the upcoming three-Test match series against  New Zealand scheduled to start from October 16 and after that Rohit Sharma & Co. will travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 scheduled to start from November 22.
