India and Australia will lock horns against each other in the Border Gavaskar Test series.

Adam Gilchrist-Ricky Ponting's prediction for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

India currently holds the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, having dominated Australia in recent years. Despite playing on Australian soil, India has managed to secure victories in their last two tours, showcasing their dominance in the longest format of the game. The five-match Test series is set to begin in Perth on November 22. A day-night Test match will then follow in Adelaide. The series will continue in Brisbane and Melbourne before concluding with the traditional New Year's Test in Sydney, starting on January 7.

Adam Gilchrist believes that India's formidable bowling attack will make the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series highly competitive. He noted that the Indian bowlers will thrive in Australian conditions. While Gilchrist acknowledged India's strength, he expressed his hope for a close contest with Australia ultimately emerging victorious.

“It is going to be another tough series for both teams. Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India knows how to go away and win overseas. Their fast bowling line-up at the moment is up there, on a par with most around the world. They are going to enjoy the conditions here. Besides, they have a terrifically talented batting line-up. It is going to be very, very even," Adam Gilchrist was quoted saying by TOI via News18.

“Naturally, I am going to say Australia; I hope they get there. But it is too close to call. It will be a close tussle,” Adam Gilchrist added.

India's Comeback Victory in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Australia dominated the opening Test match of the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar series, securing an eight-wicket victory in Adelaide. India's lowest-ever Test score of 36 runs in the series opener seemed to foreshadow a one-sided contest. However, under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, the Indian team staged a remarkable comeback.

Despite facing numerous injuries, India managed to win the series 2-1, demonstrating their resilience and determination. The series victory showcased India's ability to overcome adversity and compete at the highest level.
