England Test captain Ben Stokes opened up on his post-retirement plans. The left-handed batter has been a pivotal player for England, he was part of England's ODI World Cup 2019 and T20 World Cup 2022 squad which was played in England and Australia respectively. He made his international debut in 2013 and has been in the scheme of things in the England Cricket team. He was awarded the Test captaincy in 2022.

Stokes who is currently on the road to recovery revealed that he wants to coach the team after his retirement.

"I can’t see myself being someone who when the day comes when I do stop playing, I’ll just not be involved with cricket. I do see myself probably wanting to go down the route of being a coach. I think that’s just with my love for the game. When I’m done playing, I’d love to be able to try and affect a few people’s careers,” Stokes told the Telegraph.

Stokes also wants to feature in the Champions Trophy 2025 which will be hosted by Pakistan. However, the England star is uncertain about his white ball future. Stokes played 114 ODIs and 43 T20Is where he scored 3463 and 585 runs respectively.

"It’s hard to turn down those sort of big events, isn’t it? If I didn’t play another white-ball game, I’ll be very content with how many games I’ve played and what I’ve been able to achieve. I don’t know what the plan is going forward, whether they see me being a part of that or not. I’m sure there’ll be some conversation at some point about that. And I’ll be happy either way," he added.

What is ahead for the England team?

According to reports The Champions Trophy 2025 is slated to be held in February 2025. The venue of the tournament is still undecided as the venue announced was Pakistan. India are yet to make a judgment on their team’s participation in a marquee event. England recently defeated Sri Lanka 2-0 at their home conditions led by Ollie Pope. England will now tour Pakistan for a three-match Test Series starting from 7th October. Before their red ball stint, they will contest a three-match T20I series and five-match ODI series against their ashes rivals Australia. Ben Stokes will likely miss the start of the series against Pakistan next month as he continues to recover from the hamstring injury sustained during The Hundred Men's Competition.
