Indian captain Rohit Sharma jokingly said that he will made a comeback from his retirement in T20Is before the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 which is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka and India together. Rohit has announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game after leading India to the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph in West Indies. Apart from Rohit, Virat Kohli also said goodbye to T20I after India lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 title defeating South Africa in the final by seven runs.
After Rohit Sharma, BCCI announced Suryakumar Yadav as new India's T20I captain and under his leadership India won the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka by 3-0. And now after T20Is Men in Blue will face the same opponent in the three-match ODI series where Rohit will be leading the team in ODIs for the first time after ODI World Cup 2023 final hosted by India.

“I felt like I have been rested from the T20s like it used to happen in the past. There will be big tournament coming up and then we have to get ready for T20s again. I still feel it is like that. So I don't think I am completely out of the format” said Rohit in a viral video.
India's ODI schedule against Sri Lanka
India will play three match ODI series against Sri Lanka where the first match will be played on August 2 second on August 4 and third will be on August 7 where Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be seen in action. This is the first time that Rohit and Kohli will feature for India after ODI World Cup 2023.
