'I have had a lot of time off, and I don't plan...': Jofra Archer's massive revelation for Ashes 2025
Jofra Archer of England gestures during the first day of the fifth Rothesay Test Match between England and India at The Kia Oval on July 31, 2025 in London, England.

Story Highlights:

Archer is currently featuring in The Hundred.

Jofra Archer picked up nine wickets in two Tests of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

England speedster Jofra Archer revealed that he is not in the mood to miss out on any game in future due to injury. With Ashes, the oldest rivalry in cricket, set to take place later this year, the 30-year-old star said that every ball he bowls before charging at the opposition in Australia will be a buildup to that.

Archer made his Test comeback after a long gap of four years during the third Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against India. Since going missing from red-ball action in 2021, Archer endured a period during which injuries constantly plagued him, especially a recurring stress fracture in his right elbow.

Archer is currently featuring in The Hundred, where he is representing Southern Brave. He picked up eight wickets in six appearances at 16. While hoping to avoid a long layoff, the 30-year-old is taking it one step at a time. He aims to focus on the South Africa and New Zealand white-ball series, which will serve as the buildup to the Ashes.

"I have had a lot of time off, and I don't plan to miss any more days of cricket with injuries. We got a series before the Ashes, which is obviously in my mind. Every ball I bowl is a build-up to that," Archer said while speaking to Sky Sports.

With England cautiously managing his workload, Archer was able to trouble batters again with his fast bowling. After guiding England to a 22-run win against India at Lord's, he kept his place for the fourth Test in Manchester, which ended in a draw.

Thanks to an eight-day break, Archer got enough rest to bowl at high speeds again. Since returning to England's Test team, he has bowled 88.3 overs, showing off his pace and taking nine wickets at an average of 28.66.

During the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, fans were excited and couldn't take their eyes off Archer's fast bowling. He will now look to keep up his good form in the white-ball matches against New Zealand and South Africa before facing Australia.
