USA’s explosive batter Aaron Jones has set his sights on the Indian Premier League, publicly expressing his desire to play in the prestigious T20 tournament. The 30-year-old took to social media to make his ambitions clear following a breakout year for both club and country.

Jones who was honored with the ICC Men’s Associate Batting Performance of the Year wants to embrace one of the biggest cricketing stage of the World.
The rising competition
Despite his rising profile, Jones was not included among the 577 cricketers shortlisted for the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The pool featured 367 Indian and 210 overseas players, competing for 204 slots, including 70 reserved for foreign players.
Notably, some of his compatriots — Unmukt Chand, Saurabh Netravalkar, and Ali Khan — were part of the auction list but went unsold.
CPL Glory with Saint Lucia Kings
The right-hander didn’t just stop at international heroics. He played a crucial role in guiding Saint Lucia Kings to their maiden Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title in 2024. Despite being benched for most of the campaign, Jones stepped up when it mattered most — delivering a composed 48 in the CPL final, steering his team out of trouble and to a historic championship win.
With 1,664 ODI runs and 701 T20I runs to his name, experts believe it’s only a matter of time before the IPL doors open for him.
What's next?
Jones is set to represent the USA in the inaugural North American Cup, kicking off on April 18 in the Cayman Islands. The tournament will feature teams from Canada, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the host nation.
