The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to halt funding to Cricket Canada amid the ongoing governance-related issues, with the cricket in the country currently facing instability both on and off the field.
ICC takes big step
Cricket Canada was briefed by the ICC earlier this week, with the board set to face a suspension of funding for the next six months.

However, the suspension will not have an affect on the cricketing operations or programmes related to the performance, it comes as a massive setback for the Canada Cricket board, which depends heavily on ICC funding as an Associate Member.
According to the Cricket Canada's financial statement for the year ending in 2024, it reveals that 63 percent of their income came from ICC's fund.
Though the detailed reports are yet to be disclosed, a Canadian investigative documentary claimed alleged breaches of ICC policies, consisting of concerns over the Cricket Canada is working and problems in financial oversight.

The recent developments have come under International Cricket Council's (ICC) attention, which has started a special investigation into possible breaches of its anti-corruption rules.
