A significant person has been sacked in the ongoing reorganization of the International Cricket Council (ICC), which began last November with the dismissal of two senior executives. Geoff Allardice, the CEO, has now been sacked. As per the Cricbuzz report, he has been held accountable by the governing body for the T20 World Cup 2024 fiasco, whose conduct had caused a great deal of controversy. The ICC appears to bear some of the blame for the unsatisfactory build-up to the forthcoming Champions Trophy.

Allardice's departure was announced by the ICC on Tuesday, which said he had made the decision to leave. He had been the acting CEO for eight months before being appointed to the role in November 2021.

"I'd like to thank the ICC Chair, the board of directors and entire cricket community for their support and collaboration over the past 13 years. I believe this is the right time for me to step down and pursue new challenges. I am confident that cricket has exciting times ahead, and I wish the ICC and the global cricket community every success in the future," he added.

In 2012, Allardice became the General Manager of Cricket at the ICC after leaving Cricket Australia. In November 2021, he was named CEO of the ICC. His successor has not yet been announced by the board.
