ICC T20I Rankings: Abhishek Sharma jumps 38 places after record-breaking 135 to leave Tilak, Suryakumar behind; Chakravarthy, Bishnoi rise in top 10

India's explosive opener Abhishek Sharma has been rewarded for the record-breaking 135-run knock in the fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Abhishek jumped 38 places to occupy the second post in the ICC T20I batter rankings. He is only behind Australia's Travis Head who has 855 rating points, 16 more than his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opening partner.

The other two Indian batters in top 10 are Tilak Varma and captain Suryakumar Yadav at third and fifth position respectively. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal slipped three places to 12th as he was missing from the T20I squad. 

Abhishek's opening partner Sanju Samson took a hit as he slipped five places to 35th as his struggle against short balls continued. Samson suffered a fractured index finger in the fifth T20I. Dhruv Jurel fulfilled wicketkeeping duties in the one-sided encounter as India beat England by a margin of 150 runs. 

Changes in ICC T20I bowler rankings

After taking a beating from Abhishek, England's leg-spinner Adil Rashid lost the first spot to West Indies' left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein. Varun Chakravarthy who took 14 wickets in the series and has been added to India's ODI squad went up three places to occupy the third spot. He has 705 rating points, same as second-placed Rashid.

Ravi Bishnoi benefitted as well as he climbed four places to take sixth position. As a result, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh moved down one place to ninth. Jofra Archer had a tough time in India and he took a four-spot hit. The England pacer is now ranked 10th. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel who mostly played supporting role is at 13th spot after slipping two places.

Smith, Khawaja rise in ICC Test batter rankings

There were a few changes in the Test rankings as well. Steve Smith's century helped him rise three places to fifth spot. Kamindu Mendis is right behind him as he gained one place. Head who scored a blazing half-century in first Test lost two places. He is placed seventh followed by South Africa captain Temba Bavuma. Australia's veteran opener Usman Khawaja scored a record-breaking double century after a horrid run in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He went up six places to take the 11th spot. 

Lyon, Cummins rise in ICC Test bowling rankings

On a spin-bowling paradise of a wicket, Nathan Lyon claimed seven wickets and took the sixth spot. Captain Pat Cummins who missed the series due to injury went down one place as South Africa's Kagiso Rabada took second spot. 

After taking a beating from Australian batters, Prabath Jayasuriya lost one spot and is now on the 10th spot. Surprisingly, Mitchell Starc now holds the 12th position as he moved up two places. A major change in top 20 is Sri Lanka place Asitha Fernando sliding five places to 20th.
