Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has offered to help out-of-form Virat Kohli regain his form. Gavaskar said that in 20 minutes he might be able to explain to him what is wrong with the shots he is playing around that off-stump line.
"If I had about 20 minutes with him, I would be able to tell him the things he might have to do. It might help him, I am not saying it will help him but it could, particularly with regards to that off-stump line," Gavaskar told India Today.
Kohli was able to score just 76 runs from six innings across formats on the England soil which included the rescheduled Test, two T20Is and two ODIs. Kohli often got caught behind the stumps trying to poke at the delivery outside off stump.
"Having been an opening batter, having been troubled by that line, there are certain things that you try and do. If I get 20 minutes with him, I might be able to tell him,” the 73-year-old added.
While many have criticised his slump in form, many current and former cricketers including Babar Azam, Kevin Pietersen have come in his support and backed him to do better in the upcoming games.
Kohli is likely to be in action next in upcoming Asia Cup. He has been rested for the upcoming limited-overs series against West Indies which includes five T20Is and three ODIs.
As Kohli searches for his 71st century across formats, there have been questions over him taking rest as well. The 33-year-old was rested for the five-T20I series at home against South Africa after Indian Premier League. He is also rested for the five T20Is against West Indies when T20 World Cup in Australia is just around the corner.
Earlier, Gavaskar had also questioned players asking for rest. The Little Master lashed out at players who were opting out from T20I games just ahead of the big event.
