India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana smashed a fifty-ball century during the third ODI against Australia at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. In this century, Smriti Mandhana became the fastest Indian to smash a century in the fifty-over clash. Earlier, former India captain Virat Kohli topped the tally with his 52-ball century against Australia at  Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. 

The Indian opener came out to bat when India needed 413 runs to win the series decider; she crossed the 50-run mark in just 23 balls. By reaching the 50-run mark in just 23 balls, Mandhana has broken the record for scoring the fastest half-century for Team India in Women’s ODIs.

Before Mandhana, the record of scoring the fastest 50 for India in WODIs was in the name of Richa Ghosh. During the India-New Zealand match in Queenstown, Ghosh crossed the 50-run mark in 26 balls.

Apart from that, this was Mandhana's fourth century against Australia Women in ODIs. She is among the players who have smashed the most tons against an opponent in Women’s ODIs.

Smriti Mandhana also becomes the second cricketer to smash the most hundreds in a calendar year in Women’s ODIs

Smriti Mandhana scored an impressive 125 runs off just 63 balls, hitting 17 fours and five sixes. This was her 13th century in One Day Internationals (ODIs), putting her on par with New Zealand’s Suzie Bates. She’s now just two centuries behind Meg Lanning, who holds the record with 15 ODI centuries in women’s cricket.

This was also Mandhana’s fourth century in 2025, matching her own record for the most ODI centuries in a single year; she had scored four last year as well. Interestingly, South Africa’s Tazmin Brits has also scored four centuries this year, making it a standout season for both players.
