North Zone's star batter Yash Dhull's onslaught with the bat continued as he struck a spellbinding century in the ongoing Duleep Trophy clash against East Zone. Not long before the former India's U-19 World Cup-winning captain cracked a ravishing ton in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, where he guided Central Delhi Kings to an emphatic 8-wicket win over North Delhi Strikers riding on his 101 off 56.

Yash Dhull cracks solid century for North Zone

Only a few days after his DPL heroics, Dhull notched his eighth first-class hundred while playing for North Zone against East Zone. This was his second century in this specific tournament; he had previously scored his first against the same team during his debut first-class season in 2021-22.

In the first innings, Dhull had a promising start, scoring 39 runs off 67 balls before getting out. North Zone went on to post a total of 405 and then bowled out East Zone for 230, securing a substantial lead. In the second innings, after opener Shubham Khajuria fell for 21, Dhull returned to the crease and dominated the bowlers. He reached his century in just 112 balls, hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes.

He and captain Ankit Kumar, who was filling in for Shubman Gill, formed a partnership of over 200 runs. At tea, both players were unbeaten, with Dhull having scored 132 runs off 153 balls, 37 balls fewer than Ankit. After the break, Dhull added just one more run before being trapped lbw by opposing captain Riyan Parag, ending his notable innings.

Dhull captained the India Under-19 team to a title victory at the 2022 World Cup. A key performance during that campaign came in the semi-final against Australia, where he scored a run-a-ball 110, which was instrumental in securing a 96-run win for his team.

Dhull had a remarkable start to his first-class career, beginning with two centuries on his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi against Tamil Nadu. He followed this up with a career-best score of 200 in the next match against Chhattisgarh. He maintained his impressive form by scoring 193 on his Duleep Trophy debut against East Zone. His maiden first-class season saw him average an impressive 119.75, although his form declined over the next two seasons, where he averaged just 30.42 across 20 matches. However, the 2024-25 season marked a comeback for Dhull, as he scored 444 runs with an average of 49.33.

The 22-year-old was also a part of the Delhi Capitals squad for the 2023 IPL season. He has played four matches in the tournament so far, with a top score of 13. In List A cricket, he also showcased his leadership skills by guiding the India A team to a runners-up finish in the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, accumulating 234 runs at an average of 117.00.
