Rajasthan Royals will host Mumbai Indians in their upcoming clash in the ongoing IPL 2026 season on Tuesday, April 7 at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The Riyan Parag led side have gotten off to a great start, securing back-to-back wins against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans respectively.
Paras Mhambrey opens up on facing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Ahead of the clash, Mumbai Indians' bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has opened up on the Royals' teen-sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, saying that the young opener is no longer a new player, as he is now in his second season in the league.
"Firstly, I think Vaibhav is not new. This is his second year, so he is not new," said Mhambrey.
Despite a big buzz around Sooryavanshi's impactful performances, MI tried to have a grounded approach on the youngster, with Mhambrey emphasizing on preparing plans for the clash rather than only focusing on the 15-year-old batter.
"We also know he is a good player, so our preparation will be the same as it is for other players," added Mhambrey.
Mhambrey reflects on Ravi Bishnoi's red-hot form
On being asked about Rajasthan Royals' star spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who is coming after a marvelous four-wicket haul in win against Gujarat Titans, Mhambrey again went on to downplay the situation, saying that the bowler has been around long enough in the competition for teams to mark his weak areas.
"I don’t see Ravi as a mystery anymore. People have seen what he can do over the years," said Mhambrey.
How Vaibhav Soorvanshi has fared in IPL 2026 so far?
Rajasthan Royals' Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has kicked off the IPL 2026 season in a great way, as the 15-year-old batter has managed to smash 52 runs off just 17-deliveries in the opening clash against Chennai Super Kings. In the second game against Gujarat Titans, Sooryavanshi again created an impact with his innings of 31 runs off 18 balls.
So far, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has looked amazing with the bat, and it will be interesting to see if he can continue his red-hot form against Mumbai Indians as well.
