Japan Cricket Association (JCA) on September 7 announced their squad for the historic T20I against India which is scheduled to be played in Sano on September 22. In the Suzuki cup, Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming will continue to lead Japan.
12 of Japan players from Asian Games 2026 feature in the squad for Suzuki Cup. Three players from the A squad — Tsuyoshi Takada, Jake Kusuda-Nairn and Alester Kadowaki-Fleming feature in the lineup for India fixture.
Meanwhile, India are yet to name their squad for the Suzuki Cup. It is likely to be the same as the Asian Games 2026. However, India may play a few net bowlers if the need arises.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side is expected to reach Sano on September 19.

Japan's form in 2026
Japan have lost only two out of 10 T20Is they have played this year. Japan's highest T20I total of 258 for no loss came against China in 2024. Their lowest T20I score of 79 came against Indonesia in 2022. In the year 2026, their lowest total is 90. Still, they stretched the game to the final delivery against Cook Islands.
Japan’s top run-scorer and wicket-taker
Kadowaki-Fleming is Japan's leading run-scorer in T20Is. From 55 games, he has amassed 1,871 runs at an average of 38.18 and strike rate of 139.41. He has two tons and 12 fifties to his name as well. He is also the third-fastest to 1,000 T20I runs.
Their highest wicket-taker is all-rounder Sabaorish Ravichandran with 63 wickets from 53 T20Is at an average of 11.76 including two fifers and one four-fer. His economy rate is 4.84 runs per over. But, Ravichandran isn't part of the squad. In the current squad, Ibrahim Takahashi is their leading wicket-taker. He has 48 wickets from 46 games at an average of 16.87.
