Kaif reckons Jasprit Bumrah is not right fit to lead India in Tests.

Kaif want KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant to lead India in Tests.

Former India cricketer Mohammed Kaif reckons that Rohit Sharma will not feature in the upcoming five-Test match series against England which is scheduled to start from June 20. Kaif also believes that speedster Jasprit Bumrah who captained India in the two Test matches of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is not the right fit to lead the side against England.

Bumrah was Rohit's deputy in the five-Test match series against Australia where India led by Bumrah registered a comfortable 295-run win in the first Test match. However, Australia defeated India 3-1 in the five-Test match series. India captain Rohit who is going through a lean patch in Test cricket again failed to score runs in Australia and after his dismal outing in the Test series, there were reports that he will announce his retirement after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

However, Rohit hasn't yet announced anything but according to Kaif, Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul will lead India in the upcoming Test series against England.

"I want a batter to lead India in the Test series against England. Whether it is Rishabh Pant or K.L. Rahul. The first two have already worked. Rishabh Pant is the captain of the IPL. He is getting mature. K.L Rahul has worked for many years. So, these two can be a shake, but I don't believe that Bumrah is the right option after Rohit Sharma" said Mohammad Kaif.
