In what comes as a big step, BCCI in their domestic program. This was confirmed by the BCCI secretary Jay Shah himself. He also stated that prize money will be given to the player of the match in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for men's cricket.
“We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women’s and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme. Additionally, prize money will be awarded for the Player of the Match in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for Senior Men. This initiative aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the domestic circuit. A heartfelt thank you to the Apex Council for their unwavering support in this endeavour. Together, we are fostering a more rewarding environment for our cricketers. Jai Hind,” wrote Jay Shah from his official ‘X’ account formerly known as Twitter.
This reflects upon BCCI's constant commitment towards improving and promoting their domestic cricket setup by giving not just a stage to the rising young talents but also additional prizes for their astonishing performance. The prize money will be granted in all Women's and Junior Cricket competitions, including the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for senior men's cricket.
It is expected that the introduction of the rewards will encourage players to improve their game and boost morale. This highlights the board's commitment to sustaining and celebrating their talent across all levels. The Duleep Trophy marks the beginning of India's domestic calendar in September. After which it will be Irani Cup in October. Then the Ranji Trophy will start off on October 11. The Syed Mushtaq Ali competition is scheduled to begin on November 23, and the Vijay Hazare Trophy competition will begin on December 21.
