Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra has been fined 50% of his match fee by the BCCI following a massive controversy that happened during the game against the opponents. The punishment by the governing body comes after his intentional headbutting of Karnataka substitute fielder KV Aneesh during a heated on-field altercation on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground.
BCCI punishes J&K captain Paras Dogra with 50% match fee for headbutting Karnataka fielder
The incident occurred in the 101st over of J&K's first innings after Dogra edged a delivery from Prasidh Krishna for a boundary. This sparked a verbal exchange believed to stem from persistent sledging by Aneesh at forward short leg.
The J&K captain then came forward and made helmet-to-helmet contact with the fielder, prompting immediate intervention by umpires, match referee Vengalil Narayanan Kutty, and Karnataka players, including Mayank Agarwal.
Dogra later offered his apology, but it was rejected by Aneesh, reportedly. The controversy overshadowed J&K's dominant batting display, as they reached 527/6 at stumps.
It also took away the spotlight from Dogra’s stunning efforts, who delivered a solid batting performance against Karnataka, scoring 70 off 166 balls on Day 2, helping his team consolidate to a commanding victory. Meanwhile, J&K are looking for their historic title against Karnataka, the eight-time champions.
