India's star cricketer KL Rahul and her actor wife Athiya Shetty are expecting their first child in 2025. The couple shared the joyous news on Instagram on Friday, November 8, expressing their excitement about this new chapter in their lives.
KL Rahul to become father as Athiya Shetty announces pregnancy
Athiya posted a picture along with a simple white heart emoji. The picture featured tiny feet and an evil eye symbol, accompanied by the caption, "Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025." This announcement took the internet by storm, as fans and well-wishers congratulated the couple on their upcoming parenthood.
As soon as the announcement was made, well-wishers, including Athiya's brother Ahan Shetty and soon-to-be bride Sobhita Dhulipala, extended their congratulations to the couple. Athiya and KL Rahul celebrated their first wedding anniversary in January of this year. Right after the couple shared the happy news on social media, their family and friends from the entertainment industry flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages. Athiya's brother was among the first to express his joy, showering the post with heart emojis.
Other celebrities like Sonakshi Sinha, Esha Gupta, and Rhea Kapoor also extended their warm wishes to the couple. Sonakshi commented, "Omg omg omg sooooo happy," while Esha wrote, "Omggggg... Athiya Shetty, the daughter of renowned Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, tied the knot with Indian cricketer KL Rahul on January 23, 2023, at her family's luxurious Khandala mansion, Jahaan. The couple, who had been dating for over four years, made their first public appearance together at the premiere of Athiya's brother Ahan Shetty's film, Tadap. Athiya and KL Rahul are believed to have met through a mutual friend in February 2019. Romance rumors began circulating in December 2019 after their cozy Instagram post from a New Year's celebration in Thailand gained significant attention.
While Athiya Shetty has taken a break from acting, her husband, KL Rahul, is currently in Australia, participating in the second unofficial Test match between India A and Australia A. Athiya's last film, Motichoor Chaknachoor, was released in 2019 alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
