Indian spinner Kuldeep is currently in Melbourne on a family trip. He recently visited the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). During his visit, Kuldeep posed for a photo with the statue of his idol i.e. the late Shane Warne, outside the stadium.
He took on social media and wrote “Shane Warne was my idol, and I had a very strong connection with him. I still get emotional when I think about Warnie—it feels like I’ve lost someone from my family. It’s great to be here at Cricket Australia’s headquarters and the iconic MCG. I’m looking forward to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and we’re anticipating a great cricket contest between Australia and India this year. India cricket fans always support the team around the globe, and I’m confident they will come in big numbers for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, especially during the Boxing Day Test."
Kuldeep’s stellar T20 WC
Kuldeep has been commendable in his recent outings for the Men in Blue. He played a pivotal role in India's triumph at the T20 World Cup 2024, taking 10 wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 6.95. His wickets at crucial junctures of the game proved to be a key asset in Rohit Sharma’s armory. Rohit always backed him giving him tough overs to bowl. He was rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka but did find a spot for the ODI series. He picked up four wickets in the T20I series. The 29-year-old will now return to action in the Duleep Trophy 2024 starting from September 5.
Much awaited BGT ahead
India is scheduled to play a five-match Test series against Australia starting from 22nd November at Optus Stadium in Perth. This five-match series will then continue in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. Rohit Sharma and his men will look to make a hattrick of BGT wins in Australia while hosts will try their best to turn things around. Australia holds a clear advantage in the head-to-head record against India in Test cricket. The Men in Yellow have won 45 out of 107 Test matches, while India has secured victories in 32. The remaining 29 matches have ended in draws. Notably, India's dominance over Australia in Test cricket began with their historic series win in the 2018-19 tour, breaking a long streak of unsuccessful attempts on Australian soil.
