The legendary cricketer and former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is undergoing knee treatment by an Ayurvedic doctor in his native place for treatment. This doctor attends his patients under a tree in a remote village in Ranchi.
The reports suggested that he has been charged Rs 40 by doctor Vandan Singh Khervar for his treatment.
Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kharwar, who treats ailments with wild herbs, like all his patients, charged Dhoni Rs 40 for a single dose of medicine. The Ayurvedic doctor lives in the forested area of Lapung, which is nearly 70 km from Ranchi as per reported by Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar.
Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kharwar has been treating patients for the last 28 years.
The doctor further said that the 2011 World Cup-winning skipper visits him like a normal patient but fans have started gathering near his home to catch Dhoni’s glimpse which is the reason why they have found a new way to provide him with the medicines.
“Dhoni comes like a normal patient without any pomp. He has no pride in being a celebrity. However, now every four days, the news of Dhoni’s arrival gathers his fans here. So now he sits in his car while his medicine is administered to him," Khervar said.
"I charge him ₹ 20 as consultation fees and prescribe him medicines worth ₹ 20," Vandan Singh Khervar said.
The swashbuckling right-hander has been coming to the hermitage every four days or so. He has been seeing the practitioner since a month.
"I couldn't recognize Dhoni when he came to see me," Vandan Singh Khervar said. It was the people in Mahendra Singh Dhoni's entourage who told the doctor that the batter had come to see him.
"I have treated Dhoni's parents as well," he said, adding that they have been taking his medicines since the last three months.
Before Dhoni, his parents were treated by this doctor. Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kherwar said that he did not initially recognise Dhoni's parents nor could he recognise Dhoni.
He learnt of his famous patient only when the youths in the neighbourhood gathered around for photos with him.
The 40-year-old played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022 where his team failed to reach the playoffs stage for the second time in the tournament’s history. However, Dhoni announced that he will return to play IPL next year too in CSK’s colours.
