The schedule for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games has been revealed coinciding with the announcement that ticket registration will start in January 2026.

The Los Angeles 2028 Games are anticipated to be the largest in the history of the event, featuring an expansive program of 51 sports contested across 49 venues. These sites are strategically located across 18 zones throughout the greater Los Angeles region, with some events also taking place in Oklahoma City.

 

"Athletes and fans from around the world now have what they need to plan an unforgettable Olympic experience," LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said, as quoted by NDTV Profit.

Furthermore, the 2028 Games are set to make history in terms of gender equity. For the first time ever, every team sport will include an equal or greater number of women's teams compared to men's. This commitment contributes to a record 50.5 percent of the total 11,200 athletes participating being women.

Opening and Closing Ceremony

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games are officially scheduled to run for 17 days of world-class competition. The highly anticipated opening ceremony will commence on July 14, 2028, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), which corresponds to 6:30 a.m. Indian Standard Time (IST) on July 15.

The Games will officially conclude just over two weeks later with the closing ceremony, which is set to take place on July 30, 2028, at 9:00 p.m. ET. For viewers in India, this time translates to 7:30 a.m. IST on July 31, officially bringing the LA28 Olympics to a close.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games are set to open with a strong focus on women's sports on July 15, which will feature the most women's finals ever held on a single day. The competition will officially kick off with the women’s triathlon, immediately followed by the highly anticipated final of the women’s 100 metres. The schedule generally places track and field events in the first week, while swimming competitions will dominate the second week.

All eyes on Cricket return 

The historic return of cricket to the Olympics after more than a century is a key highlight, with the women’s final scheduled for Day 6 and the men's final set for Day 15. The Games will conclude with the endurance races on the final weekend, as the women’s marathon takes place on July 29, and the men’s marathon brings the curtain down on the entire event on July 30.

Organisers anticipate that Day 15, dubbed "Super Saturday," will be the most action-packed single day of the LA28 Olympics. This day will feature a remarkable 26 finals sessions across 23 different sports, underscoring a culmination of athletic achievement. This memorable final weekend event will include 15 gold and bronze medal matches for team sports, alongside athletes from 15 individual sports competing for their ultimate medals.

All about ticket registration for LA Olympics

Ticket registration for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games will officially commence in January 2026. Prospective attendees can initiate the booking process by visiting LA28.org. The ticketing operations will be managed by LA28's Official Ticketing Service Providers, AXS and EVENTIM.

A large number of seats will be available for the events, with approximately 14 million tickets expected to be released to the public. While specific pricing details are slated for a later announcement, LA28 chief of sport, Shana Ferguson, confirmed to AFP that the organizers are explicitly not considering a dynamic pricing model. Additionally, fans seeking premium experiences can secure hospitality packages and services through 'On Location,' the exclusive provider for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. For payment convenience, Visa will serve as the 'Official Way to Pay' in recognition of its long-standing partnership with the Olympics.
