Mumbai announce squad for Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Haryana, two T20I stars return in Shreyas Iyer's absence, uncapped left-arm pacer included

Mumbai picked an 18-member squad for their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 quarterfinal game against Haryana scheduled to start on February 8. India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Shivam Dube have rejoined the squad for the knockout clash. 

While Dube was part of Mumbai's loss to Jammu and Kashmir, Suryakumar hasn't played in the second leg of group stage of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. 

Uncapped left-arm pacer Harsh Tanna is the latest addition to the squad. The 26-year-old made his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut on December 26, 2024. He has played four games so far and claimed four wickets in List A format.

Big win for Mumbai paves the way for knockout stage

Following the disapponting loss to Jammu & Kashmir after more than a decade, Mumbai beat Meghalaya by an innings and 456 runs to gain a bonus point. Skipper Rahane scored 96 whereas Siddhesh Lad, wicketkeeper-batter Akash Anand and Shams Mulani scored their respective centuries to help Mumbai post 671/7 on the board. In-form Shardul Thakur was phenomenal with the ball in both innings. First, he bagged a four-fer in each innings to bowl out Meghalaya for 86 and 129. In the second innings, Tanush Kotian picked up a four-wicket haul as well.

J & K's big win helps Mumbai

As Jammu and Kashmir beat Baroda by 182 runs in their last group stage match, Mumbai became the second team from Group A to progress to the quarterfinals. Mumbai finished group stage with 29 points to their name compared to Baroda's 27.

Kamboj poses big threat

Haryana pose a stiff challenge for 42-time Ranji Trophy winners. Haryana finished at the top of Group C with three wins and four draws. In-form pacer Anshul Kamboj will be lethal with the new ball. He has already taken 29 wickets from five games at an average of 11.75 including one fifer.
