Arshdeep Singh broke his silence on getting limited game-time in T20Is

Arshdeep took one wicket against New Zealand in 1st T20I

India pacer Arshdeep Singh hasn't gotten a lot of game time in T20Is since the 2025 Asia Cup. He has constantly been in and out of the playing XI with the team management frequently shuffling the bowling attack. The left-arm pacer did get to feature in the first T20I against New Zealand and picked up a wicket while giving away 31 runs in his quota of four overs.

Arshdeep's hilarious take on the matter

When asked about getting limited-game time under head coach Gautam Gambhir, Arshdeep had a hilarious response in store.

“Jaise main team se in and out hota hoon uska advantage bhi hai. Mera ball bhi in and out jaata hai (Being in and out of the team has its own set of advantages. Like I am in and out of the team, my ball is also coming in and going out). So I am enjoying that," Arshdeep said in the post-match press-conference.

Arshdeep then addressed the question seriously and remarked that his job is to perform whenever he gets picked. He further said that he doesn't have any control over the selection and doesn't think about it much.

“My job is to stay prepared and perform whenever the team needs me to bowl in any format, with either the new or old ball. My aim is to enjoy the journey, remain in the present, and focus on what I can control. What is beyond my control (selection), I shouldn’t worry about," Arshdeep stated.

Arshdeep's stunning numbers in T20Is

Despite being India's leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 111 scalps from 73 matches, Arshdeep has often been overlooked by selectors, who have opted to go for other bowlers. The seamer featured in 13 out of the 21 T20Is that India played in 2025 and missed majority of the Asia Cup.

Things did improve for Arshdeep during the latter part of the year as he was picked for three out of five T20Is against Australia and in four out of the five games against South Africa. It remains to be seen as to how many games will the 26-year-old play in the ongoing series against New Zealand.
