Story Highlights:

Nicholas Pooran scored just 10 runs from 14 balls.

Rahkeem Cornwall conceded 14 runs from 3 overs and claimed Pooran's wicket.

Trinbago Knight Riders lost to Antigua Barbuda Falcons by 8 runs.

Trinbago Knight Riders captain Nicholas Pooran lost his cool and was seen pounding the pitch with both hands as he got stumped out in the run chase against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 clash on August 20.

After the ninth over, pressure was mounting on Pooran. He was batting on 10 runs from 13 balls and needed to accelerate in the run chase of 168. Rahkeem Cornwall was bowling his second over. Pooran decided to take him on by charging down the track but missed the length. The ball spun away from him and Pooran had no chance to make his ground as Caleb Jewell took off the bails in a flash.

Pooran was frustrated with himself and pounded the pitch with both gloves before leaving the field in anger. Cornwall celebrated the prized wicket of the opposition captain. He bowled a total of three overs, conceded 14 runs and got one wicket.

Pollard's knock in vain

Despite Kieron Pollard's unbeaten 28-ball 43, Trinbago Knight Riders lost the match by eight runs as Shamar Springer bowled a good last over. The pacer bowled four consecutive dot balls to Pollard who was smashing the ball around the park. Earlier, Colin Munro had contributed with a blazing 18-ball 44.

Pooran wants batters to do better

“We were happy with that total, but their bowlers did an incredible job. We were happy to chase 167. It (leading the team) has been great. They bowled really well, kudos to them. For us it is important to use our experience. We need to take it deeper as a group. Need to take accountability as a batting unit,” Pooran said in the post-match presentation.

Pooran struggles for form

Pooran has not been in good form this season, especially since his retirement from international cricket. In the two innings, he has registered scores of 10 and 13. Even in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, he was sluggish. MI New York won but Pooran was not at his best with the bat. His best knock came against Texas Super Kings in the Qualifier 2.
