Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who set the stage on fire with his heroic individual campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, could make his India debut soon. As per a latest report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has included the left-handed opener among the probable players for the upcoming Asian Games set to be held in September this year.

According to a report by Amar Ujala, Suryakumar Yadav will not lead the Indian team at the Asian Games, as the board has not included his name in the list of probable players.
The extended list reportedly consists of Vaibhav Sooryvanshi, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The BCCI is expected to name the India's 15-member squad for the Asian Games in Japan soon.
30 players in the probable list
The board has included 30 players in its probable list for the competition, from which a final squad of 15 players will be named.
India had won the gold medal in 2023 under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad. As per the report, nine players from that gold-winning squad, including Gaikwad, have also been named in the probable list for the upcoming edition.
Big twist in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's international debut
The Asian Games will take place in September, but Vaibhav could make his international debut way before that. Ahead of the multi-sport event, India are set for a packed calendar, starting next month with a two-game T20I series vs Ireland, followed by a five-match T20I series and three ODIs against England in July.
The schedule also consists of three T20I matches against Zimbabwe, along with a Test and Two T20Is against Sri Lanka in August. With such a busy calendar, Sooryavanshi may get his maiden callup well before the Asian Games.
