India’s young hard-hitting Vaibhav Suryavanshi fell cheaply in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 clash against Pakistan on December 14. Left-arm pacer Mohammad Sayyam bowled one into the pitch. The southpaw played it back to the bowler as he departed after scoring just five runs from six deliveries.

The Pakistan team mentor, the Champions Trophy 2017-winning skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed applauded Sayyam from the dugout. The video of the dismissal has gone viral on social media.

Earlier, the toss was delayed due to rain resulting in a deduction of one over per side. Pakistan skipper Farhan Yousaf won the toss and opted to bowl first at ICC Academy Ground, Dubai.

In-form Sayyam dismisses Mhatre too

Later, Sayyam dismissed India skipper Ayush Mhatre in the 10th over. Mhatre scored 38 runs from 25 balls, including four fours and three sixes.

Sayyam has been in good form. He bagged three wickets against Malaysia and helped Pakistan bowl them out for 48. Pakistan won the game by 297 runs.

Suryavanshi scores big against UAE but struggles against Pakistan

In the previous game against UAE, Suryavanshi scored an unbeaten 171 off 95 deliveries. His knock was laced with nine fours and 14 sixes. India put on 433/6 on the board and beat UAE by 234 runs.

Last month, Suryavanshi scored 45 runs from 28 balls, including five fours and three sixes against Pakistan Shaheens in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. After his wicket to Sufiyan Muqeem, India A were bowled out for 136. Pakistan Shaheens won the match by eight wickets.
