Team India to feature with a new captain and vice-captain in the upcoming five-Test match series against England, as the previous red-ball skipper, Rohit Sharma, announced his retirement ahead of the upcoming assignment. Apart from Rohit, Bumrah who was the vice-captain of the side, will also feature as a player. BCCI reportedly will appoint Shubman Gill and the captain and Rishabh Pant as his deputy for the upcoming series against England.
PTI reported that the choice of vice-captain seems to be a straightforward one as Pant is one of India' finest Test batters in overseas conditions and Jasprit Bumrah can't be considered for the role of deputy due to his stature, and also when his own fitness is iffy, making him uncertain for the full series.

Pant has a 42-plus average and hundreds in Australia, England and South Africa, along with seven scores between 90 and 99, making Pant one of the best batters in the format.
"If Bumrah isn't the captain, then there is no point offering him vice-captaincy," a BCCI source told PTI.
The squad for the England tour will be announced on May 16 or 17 and the squad for India A will be announced early next week. The five-Test match series between India and England is scheduled to start from June 20. Apart from new captain and vice-captain.
Veteran batter Virat Kohli has reportedly informed the BCCI that he is done with Test cricket and he will be unlikely to be available for the upcoming tour of England for five Tests. If Kohli decides to retire, he will retire as India's fourth-highest run-scorer in the format. He made his Test debut in 2011 and has scored 9,230 runs from 123 Tests at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries.
