Star all-rounder Axar Patel played a crucial role Indian cricket team's historic triumph in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. His 47-run knock in the Final which took place in Barbados was one of the key performance that led to Men in Blue's win against South Africa. He joined a game-changing 72-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the fourth wicket that brought the Indian team to a winning position from the backfoot. However, his knock came to an end in the form of an unfortunate run-out.
Axar Patel reveals who motivated him after disappointing run-out
Axar Patel acknowledged that he got out at the wrong time and was angry at himself. He recalled being sitting alone for three overs before the Player of the tournament Jasprit Bumrah came to him and gave a tap on his shoulder and motivated him.
"I got out at the wrong time. It was my mistake. I was not alert. I was angry with myself. I was hitting the ball well, and also, Virat bhai was also set at the other end. We were planning to accelerate. We could have added more runs for sure. For three overs, I was sitting alone then Bumrah came and gave me a tap on my shoulder and said ‘You have to bowl four overs. You have given us momentum. Let it go now’," said Axar Patel on Indian Express.
