Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh made touted that his home country of Australia will go on to win the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is to be played in India later in the year, in October-November. The cricketer, who is currently playing for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, said that the five-time champions would beat India by 385 runs in the final of the multi-nation mega event.

Although the prediction sounds a tad atrocious, Australia is capable of becoming the world champions, winning the title as many as five times (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015).
The 31-year-old is of the opinion that Australia will score 450 in their innings after which they will bowl the hosts out for 65. "Australia will stay undefeated, defeating India in the final. Australia 450/2 in the final, India all out 65," Marsh was quoted as saying in a podcast for the Delhi Capitals.

Back in 2003, Australia beat India in the final of the World Cup. At the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Ricky Ponting's stupendous knock handed the Men in Blue a crushing defeat. After being put in to bat first, Australia scored 359 for the loss of two wickets in 50 overs.

Ponting raced to 140 runs off 121 balls with the help of four fours and eight sixes. Damien Martyn lent Ponting support by scoring 88 runs off 84 balls. Ponting and Martyn shared a partnership of 234 for the third wicket off 30.1 overs.

Later, Australia bowled India out for 234 in 39.2 overs. Virender Sehwag was the only bright spot in India's batting after he scored 82 runs off 81 balls with 10 fours and three sixes. Rahul Dravid also scored 47 off 57. Glenn McGrath picked up three wickets for the Aussies.
